Climbing To The Top

Being an arborist is already an interesting job. Being a high-flying, chainsaw-wielding, rope-swinging, fast-talking, tree-beautifying female boss with the goal to never cut down trees is what makes Alisha Amundson a bit more interesting than most. El Leñero (The Woodcutter)

For centuries, people have relied on healthy forests to provide. One of those people is Alex Lopez. He and his family have lived on the lands near the Carson National Forest for generations, helping to maintain and protect it. But as wildfires encroach further and more frequently into his ancestral home, Alex leads a coalition of leñeros who dedicate their time and energy to thinning fire fuel in anticipation of the next big blaze. Their work not only weakens wildfires; it also provides free firewood to community members for heating their homes in the remote New Mexico highlands. Wildfires may be an inevitability, but with proactive care, their destruction can be limited and their management can be beneficial.

Made In America

When Ruben Diaz Sr. immigrated from Durango, Mexico in the 1970s, he was seeking a new life. Not because he wanted to leave Mexico behind, but because he knew he could do more in the United States by providing better opportunities for his family.

The Path Less Taken

ECHO products are made for people who blaze their own trail. For Alex Carey, the obvious path was sitting right there, but he chose the landscaping life. Or more accurately, it chose him. From an early age, with the encouragement of his beloved grandfather, he was drawn to working outdoors, beautifying homes and owning his own business. Now, at the ripe old age of 20, he’s doing exactly that. And where this path will lead, that’s entirely up to him.
